Many of you have been eagerly waiting for this, and here it is β the call for ideas for our second π οΈ Hackathon “Conversational Products and Video Production with AI,” organized jointly by the AI for Media Network, pub.tech, and Google. Now it’s time to pitch your ideas.
The hackathon will take place on May 6 and 7, 2025, from 9 AM to 6 PM at the Google Safety Engineering Center Munich, Erika-Mann-Str. 33, 80636 Munich. The hackathon will focus on two main topics:
- π¬ What new dialog-oriented products can editorial teams develop using (generative) AI? We are observing a trend where users want to interact with media content, not just via text but also through voice. What products could be developed to meet this demand?
- πΉ How can AI assist in video production and video management? Video content is highly sought after, especially among younger audiences. What could personalized video content look like, and to what extent can it be created automatically? Potential use cases include subtitling, analytics, tagging, or searching through archives, to name just a few examples.
Submit your ideas for use cases that fit these topics by March 31 using this form (in the upper right corner you will find an English version, too). We will select based on criteria such as relevance to journalism, feasibility within a hackathon format, and creativity. We also aim for a good mix of topics.
Some spots will be reserved for teams, while others will be for individuals. Successful applicants will be invited to the hackathon via email. Final team assignments will be made during the hackathon: ideas will be pitched, and participants can then choose the team they wish to join.
