The European Journalism Centre (EJC) is hosting this year’s News Impact Summit on October 9th in Warsaw, focusing on how AI can enhance journalism, much like the AI for Media Network. The Network is a program partner, and participation is free of charge.

The event is organized by the EJC in collaboration with the Google News Initiative. The News Summit will take place on October 9th at Ujazdowski Castle in Warsaw, Poland. Journalists will receive practical tips and new ideas on how to effectively use AI in areas such as research, storytelling, and audience engagement through panels, workshops, and hands-on sessions. Ethical considerations regarding the use of AI will also be addressed. The AI for Media Network is a conference partner and contributes to the program’s development.
Confirmed Speakers Include Clare Spencer and George Katz
Among the confirmed speakers are Clare Spencer from Generative AI in the Newsroom and George Katz from Bellingcat. Spencer will discuss when it is beneficial to use AI for journalistic tasks and how to leverage AI effectively. Katz will share insights on how Bellingcat identified the admin of MrDeepFakes, once the world’s most notorious deepfake porn site. Bernd Oswald, the manager of the AI for Media Network, will moderate a panel on the ethical use of AI in newsrooms. The event will conclude with an evening of networking. Participation in the News Impact Summit is free, but registration is recommended due to limited seating.
